Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Your safari begins with a meet and greet from your professional driver guide who will pick you up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali. After a short briefing about the journey, you will depart Kigali and drive through Rwanda’s scenic countryside often referred to as the Land of a Thousand Hills.

Along the way you will enjoy beautiful views of terraced hillsides, rural villages, and lush green landscapes as you head toward the Uganda border where immigration formalities will be completed.

After crossing into Uganda, the journey continues through the highlands of southwestern Uganda towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important habitats for mountain gorillas. The drive passes through scenic landscapes and local communities before reaching the Bwindi forest region.

Accommodation
Upon arrival near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, you will check into your lodge such as Gorilla Mist Camp or Gorilla Valley Lodge where you can relax after the journey. Dinner will be served at the lodge and you will spend the night surrounded by the peaceful environment of the Bwindi rainforest as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer Back to Kigali

You will wake up early for breakfast before heading to the Bwindi park headquarters with your packed lunch and drinking water for the gorilla trekking briefing. During the briefing, park rangers will explain the trekking rules, safety guidelines, and provide information about the gorilla family you will be tracking before you begin the trek.

Accompanied by experienced ranger guides and trackers, you will enter the dense rainforest and begin the search for the mountain gorillas. The trek may take between one to several hours depending on the movement of the gorillas the previous night and involves hiking through thick vegetation and forest trails.

Once the gorillas are found, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing them in their natural habitat, watching them feed, groom, and interact within their family group.

After the trek, you will return to the park headquarters where you will receive your gorilla trekking certificate before meeting your driver guide for the transfer back to Kigali, marking the end of this memorable gorilla safari.

End of Trip.
