This 2-day safari offers a rare opportunity to track the endangered golden monkeys in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, located in the northern part of the country. Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, your driver/guide will pick you up and begin the journey to Volcanoes National Park. The scenic drive passes through rolling hills, traditional Rwandan villages, and terraced tea plantations.
Check in at your lodge and relax. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the nearby area or simply enjoy the views of the Virunga volcanoes. In the evening, the guide will brief you on the next day’s golden monkey trek.

Day 2: Golden Monkey Trekking – Return to Kigali
Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing. Experienced park rangers will explain the trekking rules, safety procedures, and behavior around the golden monkeys.
Trek through the lush bamboo forests and volcanic slopes in search of the playful golden monkeys. The trek usually takes 2–4 hours depending on the group’s location. Observe the monkeys leaping, feeding, and interacting in their natural habitat. Along the way, enjoy sightings of other wildlife and birds, and admire the breathtaking volcanic landscapes.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch before driving back to Kigali. Arrival in the late afternoon completes your 2-day golden monkey safari.
