Murchison Falls National Park lies approximately 305 kilometers (190 miles) northwest of Kampala, Uganda’s capital. Travelers can reach the park by road or air, depending on their preferred mode of transport.

Driving from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park takes about 5 to 6 hours, depending on the route and road conditions. There are two main routes to access the park:
This is the shortest and most popular route. Travelers pass through Masindi town, then enter the park through Kichumbanyobo Gate, which leads directly to Paraa—the main tourist hub. The road from Masindi to the park gate is unpaved, so a 4×4 vehicle is recommended.
This route follows the Kampala-Gulu highway, passing Karuma Falls Bridge before entering the park through Tangi Gate, near Pakwach. It is ideal for visitors heading to the northern sector of the park, such as Pakuba and Paraa regions.
For a faster and more convenient journey, visitors can book domestic flights from Entebbe International Airport or Kajjansi Airfield to Pakuba, Chobe, or Bugungu airstrips inside the park.
