2 Days Congo Gorilla Tour

2-Day Congo Gorilla Tour – Virunga National Park Adventure

Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is one of the most iconic destinations for mountain gorilla trekking. The park is part of the Virunga Massif and hosts some of the world’s rarest gorilla subspecies, including the Virunga mountain gorillas. A 2-day tour offers an intimate wildlife experience, combining gorilla trekking, forest exploration, and scenic landscapes.

Day 1: Arrival and Gorilla Trekking Preparation

Travelers arrive at Goma Airport or via road from neighboring Uganda or Rwanda. After clearing immigration and settling at a lodge, guides provide a briefing about gorilla trekking rules, safety, and park regulations. Depending on timing, visitors may embark on a short forest walk to acclimate and prepare for the following day’s trek.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Departure

Early morning departure for the gorilla trekking trail. Trekkers hike through dense forest and volcanic slopes, accompanied by trained guides and rangers. Upon locating a gorilla family, visitors spend up to 1 hour observing and photographing the gorillas in their natural habitat. After the trek, return to the lodge for breakfast, check-out, and depart for Goma, Rwanda, or Uganda.

Plan Your Safari

To enjoy a seamless 2-day Congo gorilla tour, secure gorilla permits well ahead of time, as they are limited. Travel with a licensed operator who manages all logistics, permits, and park safety requirements. Prepare physically for challenging forest trails, and pack hiking boots, rain gear, gloves, masks, and insect repellent. Carry all travel documents, including passport, visa, gorilla permit, and yellow fever vaccination card, and remain flexible as trekking times and routes may vary depending on gorilla locations and weather.
